Change now!

It’s that time of year again, where we give thanks, give presents, reflect and then vow to change.  Yes, it’s time to start thinking about New Year’s Resolutions.  So my question is why wait to New Year, why not change now?  Let face it, most people make and then break their resolutions, recent research shows that while 52% of participants in a resolution study were confident of success with their goals, only 12% actually achieved their goals.

Again, why wait until New Years Eve or Day?  If you need to make a change; make it now, and learn to stick to it.  Write it down, post it in a place you will see it everyday.  Keep it simple and track your results.  Keep in mind that it takes three weeks to form a habit and a lifetime to break a habit.  Seek out and surround yourself with people who have similar goals, and create a support network.  If you fall, don’t stay down, get back up and get back on track.  Set milestones, mini goals within the big goal and celebrate your results in a positive way.

So I will continue to ask, why wait until New Year’s?  Change now!  Change as soon as you realize you need to make a change.  So many self help shows on TV and we only believe what we want to hear.  So I ask, why lie to yourself?  Are you making a Resolution because it is the thing to do or are you really going to change?  And how can you change if you fall back into the same routine, with the same information and the same people?  Find out as much as you can about what you want to change, find people who have had success in that area and get involved in new activities to change your routine.  Why can that only happen on New Years Eve or Day?  Why can’t it happen in spring, or summer of fall or in the time leading up to New Years?  Why can’t it happen today?
