I will not host your pity party.

This may sound cruel.  This may sound like tough love.  Call it what you want to call it.  I will not host your pity party.  This is 60 Seconds of Motivational Mojo, it does not matter where you are in life; for things to get better, you have got to get up and take charge of your life.  I can’t sit around complaining about all the things that went wrong in my life and neither can you.

Misery loves company, but I hate being company to misery.  I have been part of complaint sessions in my work life and in my home life; it is part of life.  At the end of every one of these sessions, you have to challenge every person involved to be a part of the answer instead of continuing to complain about the problem.  Yes, we need to identify the problem, but don’t give into it.  Don’t sit there, complain and say things will never change.  Complain for a minute, and then get up and do something about it.

There are many systems and books on problem solving out there, I do not have to write another with this post.  It is OK to vent, to give and receive constructive criticism, to complain; but it is not ok for it to take up too much of your time.  For the fun of it, let’s say no more than Ten Percent of your work day.  Yeah, get all that complaining out of your system; then spend just as much or more time working on the answer.  I will not host your pity party.  I will host your team building let’s change the world party.

Every day will bring good news and bad news.  The choice is what news will you focus on?  If the day brings you good news, count your blessings.  If the day brings you bad news; learn the lesson, get better, deal with it and move on.  No pity parties!  You see pity parties have this way of lingering on and on.  It becomes a habit, it becomes a rut; and the rut only gets deeper.

I can not host your pity party.  I do not have the emotional intelligence.  I can not deal with your problems any more than you can deal with my problems.  I have to face my fear; you can’t do it for me.  You have to face your fear; I can’t do it for you.  The only real advice I can give you is find out the truth for yourself.  When you know the truth, what do you have to fear?  Pity Parties are like a drug addiction that just masks the pain, but does nothing to solve the problem.  Get up, dust your self off and get on with your life.  I have this firm belief that you can do it.  It is up to you to do it though.

I will not host your pity party.  I will host your coming out party though.  Let’s change the world.  Let’s get a bunch of people to come together and make a difference.  It starts with letting go of all the bricks in your pity party bucket that you carry around.  Do me a favor.  Make a list of all the things that are holding you back.  If the list is more than seven things, I can’t help you.  If the list is seven things or less, spend on day focusing on one problem and find the best answer that works for you.  One Problem and One Answer a Day for Seven Days: This time next week, “No More Pity Parties!”  Get around people who have the same answers that you have, get around people who are heading in the same direction you are, and make a difference.

I can not, and will not host your pity party.

Teamwork is the only way.

If you weren’t born on top, if you were not born into a life of wealth and power; than I only have one question for you: How are you going to reach your dreams?  If you were born into a life of wealth and power, I got nothing for you.  Now for those of you who are not part of the power elite, you may want to continue reading this post of 60 Seconds of Motivational Mojo.  Teamwork is the only way.

I want to believe that people are basically good.  I really do.  Maybe I have been trapped, maybe I have been surrounded by people who are desperate and down on their luck.  I guess I have just seen it to many times, where people do not look out for their friends.  I guess I have seen it too many times where people gossip behind each others backs.  We are too caught up in the dog eat dog, rat race that is every day life; that we do not take the time to see we are caught in the same trap.  The only way out is up and the only way up is to work as a team.

Year in and year out, we sing the same old songs, about how long will those with the power take advantage of the middle class?  The simple answer is “Forever!”  We should have it figured out by now, but we continue to go back to our every day lives.  In the 1960’s the songs were about how tired we were of the same old same old.  Those songs are being used to sell luxury cars now.  In the 1980’s the songs were about ho tired we are of the same old same old.  Those songs are being used to sell “Back to School” products now.  In the last couple of years there have been movements about the Top 1% and the rest of us.  Tell me, what has changed?  The only way out is up.

The reason that 99% of people are ruled by 1% of people is because the Top 1% understand the power of leveraging a system.  The Top 1% know the power of Teamwork.  The rest of us are caught in the middle because we do not work as a team.  How many people do you know who really, really like their job?  How many people do you know who are working together in their spare time to accomplish something that will free them from their Day Jobs?  I am not trying to be mean; I am trying to challenge you to see what I am talking about.  The only way up is to work as a team.

I have been parts of teams, and I have been parts of collections of individuals and I have been a loner.  To get things done, people have to work as a team, not just hang out and be a collection of individuals.  Yes you can get lots of little things done on your own, but not enough to free you from being trapped in the middle.  To get free, people have to learn to work together, and work within a system for a greater good for all involved.  Teamwork is the only way up, and up is the only way out.

We can sing in the streets, we can march in the streets, we can protest peacefully or we can be taking away in handcuffs; but the only way to change your life is to work as a team.  You have to get around people who have common goals and common ground as yourself, and work together.  Do you have a dream?  Have you sat down and made a list of your goals?  Have you broken those goals down into steps?  Are you around people who have the same goals and dreams that you have?  If the answer is “No,” how do you expect anything in your life to change?  The only way out is up and the only way up is to work as a team.

If people want to reach their dreams, they have to make a list of their goals, and find common ground with people who have similar goals.  We have to develop a system that will help each other reach our goals.  We can not be moving in opposite directions to meet common goals.   We can not take advantage of each other to reach common goals.  We have to work as a team.  Imagine for a minute there are six people with paddles on a boat.  The best way to move the boat is for everyone to paddle in the same direction at the same time.  It is just that simple.  We can make it as hard as we want to make it.  We can make as many excuses as we want to make, but this will never change.  The only way out is up

How many examples do you need of the power of franchising, duplication and team work?  Read the stories of any major companies that have been successful over the last hundred years.  You will read stories of taking a simple idea to the max because people worked as a team.  Take a look at companies that have failed, and you we hear stories of how leadership failed their teams and let individual goals and greed destroy what the teams had built.  Take a simple idea and work together to build it into something great!  The only way up is to work as a team.

We can do it if we will stop making excuses and work together.  What do you have to lose?  How will things change if you are doing the same old same old over and over again?  The only way out is up and the only way up is to work as a team.

Talent, Drive and Focus are the three keys to success.

Having anyone one of these can make you good.  Having two of these can make you great.  Having all three can make you unstoppable.  Talent, Drive and Focus are the three keys to success.

Now here at 60 Seconds of Motivational Mojo, I am constantly telling everyone who reads this blog, not to take my word for it. I am constantly saying and typing and posting to find out the truth for your self.  Now that being said, put me to the test on this one.  I am saying that I think the Three Keys to Success are Talent, Drive and Focus.  With anyone one of them you can be good.  With any two of them, you can be great.  If you have all three of them, you can become unstoppable.

Let’s start with Talent.  I think everyone has a talent.  The question is if they use it.  Do you have a friend, relative or a co-worker who is naturally good at something?  It does not matter if it is Sports, Art, a Hobby or a Business, do you know someone who is a Quote, Unquote Natural, but just never seemed to catch a break or take their shot.  Yeah they we good, but they just never got over the hump.  Or do you know someone who seems like they are a house on fire for every cause, they seem to jump on bandwagon after bandwagon and always bring a bunch of energy to the table but they never take the lead?  Or how about the person who studies all the time, and is an expert at the things they study, but never really seem to get their hands dirty?  The Natural; they have Talent, but lack Drive and Focus.  The Bandwagon Hopper; they have Drive, but lack Focus and maybe Talent.  The Eternal Expert; yes they have Focus, but they lack Talent and Drive.

Remember, you do not have to take my word on this, feel free to let this sink in and test this theory.  I think everyone has a natural talent, but they may not always apply their talent.  You see I believe if you have one element of these three; talent, drive or focus and you can apply any of the other two and get better at what you do.  If you have a Natural Talent and apply either Drive or Focus to that Talent, you will go from Good to Better.  If you have Drive and can apply either Focus or your Natural Talent; again you will go from Good to Better.  If you have Focus and can either Focus on your Talent or just push a little harder (Drive) then yes you will get better.  The problem with this is I am convinced, but I can not do it for you.  You are going to have to test it for yourself.  If you have one, and add one of the other two and you will get better at what you do.

If you have Talent, Commit to a Steady and Consistent Practice Schedule.

If you have Talent, Focus that Talent in an area where you can find the greatest gains.

If you have Drive, Focus that Drive where it can make the most difference.

If you have Drive, Find a Mentor to help you hone your Talent.

If you have Focus, again find a Mentor to help you hone your Talent.

If you have Focus, find a place where inspiration can add Drive to your Focus.

Talent, Drive and Focus, any one can make you good; any two will make you better.  Have you ever known someone who had Talent and Drive, but they would never stick to anyone thing and see it through?  Or how about the Person who was intense, they would work hard and check the facts, and they really knew the theory of one subject, but they never actually built anything.  You know the people who are known as “Book Smart.”  How about the person who sits in the basement and come up with really great things, they may be a great guitar player or pull of really cool science experiments; but nothing ever sees the light of day, because they have no drive to compete or succeed outside of their bedroom or basement?  See what I did there, I gave you an example of Talent and Drive without Focus, Drive and Focus without Talent, and Talent and Focus without Drive.  How do you get the one thing you are missing?

How do you go from Better to Best?  It is a Two Step Process.  Step One:  Find a Mentor.  Step Two:  Mentor Someone Else.  It is that easy.  If you want to be the best, get around the best, learn from them, and then teach others.  It does not mater if it is Arts, Science, Sports or Business.  Find a Mentor and become a Mentor.  To get in the fast lane, you have to get on the highway.  When you take a Mentor, you will learn from their Experience, and you can apply that experience to what you have learned.  When you Mentor someone else, you can learn through their eyes.  You may see something new, that you and your mentor never considered.

Why do you think Research Labs and Colleges and Universities go hand in hand? If Colleges knew it all, why would they need research?  Labs also need Colleges and Universities to provide the history of what has been done, and what not to do.  Labs need the knowledge base to know what was successful, what has failed and what is not safe to try.  Coaching and Mentoring has to become a Two Way Street in your life if you want to become great.  If you want to find the thing you are missing, do not be afraid to open yourself up to a collection of the most talented, driven and focused people you can find. You will see that it becomes contagious.

Talent, Drive and Focus are the three keys to success.  Having anyone one of these can make you good.  Having two of these can make you great.  Having all three can make you unstoppable.  Study your history.  Find some people who you consider to be legends.  Take a look at the greats and you will find a combination of Talent, Drive and Focus lead to them getting to the top, and if they stayed on top, they keep this balance.  I could give you a bunch of examples, but would it do any good?  You have to find out for yourself.  You have to do your homework.. Luck can take you far, but sooner or later; luck runs out.  People who have Talent, Drive and Focus may appear lucky to people on the outside looking in, but people on the inside, they will know and they will be able to tell you.  The combination of Talent, Drive and Focus takes you from Better to Best.

I still have not figured out this blogging thing.

Sure I have made a bunch of posts to this blog.  I have tried to track my hits.  I have tried to nudge them along, but for the most part it does it own thing.  I guess it means I have to be faithful to the spirit of 60 Seconds of Motivational Mojo.  Try to get people to find out the truth for themselves and maybe get up off the couch and chase their dreams.

OK, my dream is to be a new breed of Slacker Rock Star Motivator who tells you that you can chase your dreams, search for truth, search for purpose and use your talents in your pursuit of happiness.  I am not trying to flaunt a bunch of degrees or big words, I try to use a down to earth approach to reaching for the stars.  I try to use the dry humor of irony to search for the truth.  I try to let people know that only their actions can change their lives.  Yes, I believe that God is the beacon, but we have to get up, dust ourselves off and chase our dreams.  No one can do it for us, which means I can not do it for you and you can not do it for me.

I still have not really figured out this blog thing though.  I just type, I upload posts.  I see things, I make things up, I try to give examples without dropping names.  I am not saying I can appeal to 100% of the people out there.  Heck I am more than happy with 1%.  Not the 1% who are getting all the press lately.  Nope I think that only maybe on a good day 10% of the people out there will agree with me, and then out of those 10% – only 10% will actually do anything.  That gives me 10% of 10% or 1%.  I think if 1% of people will get up and chase their dreams then my work here is done, or has it only started?  Do I abandon ship after we reach our first harbor?  For now I row the boat.

I don’t want to post things in pursuit of popularity; I am in pursuit of truth.  Why is telling people to chase their dreams not the most popular topic out there?  Why is telling people to find out the truth for themselves not the most popular blog out there?  Should I tell people to give up on their dreams and believe lies?  Is it because I tell people they have to figure it out for themselves and then get around people who have common goals and work as a team?  I can’t figure this blogging thing out.

In my mind, I would think that telling people to find out the truth for themselves, find their purpose and use their talents to chase their dreams should spread like wildfire throughout the blogging sphere.  It should be like lightning in the interconnected network we call the internet.  That is why I still have not figured it out.  Is it my suit, should I dress better.  Is it my tone?  Should I be nicer?  I have not figured this blogging thing out.  I just blog, I type, I ponder, I observe, I strive to find something positive to take away from everyday.  And everyone thinks I am a crazy dreamer who will never amount to anything.  Except everyone is a dreamer, the question is do they remember their dreams?  Do they chase their dreams or have they given up and want me to give up also.  They don’t want to be reminded of the dreams they had when they were a kid.  Is it wrong for me to wake up those dreams hidden inside of you?  Is it wrong for me to tell you, you can still chase those dreams?

Yeah, I think if 10 people will work together they can change the world.  So I am looking for my 9 common goal, common ground, crazy dreamer friends who want to change the world.  And I think you should be looking for your 9 common goal, common ground, crazy dreamer friends who want to change the world.  This is why I will say again, “I have not figured this blogging thing out yet.”  But when I do, when I break through, watch out.  We are going to make some noise, we are going to make a difference, we are going to work together setting people free to chase their dreams and we are going to change the world.  I just got to figure this blogging thing out.

So I will continue to type, to post, to blog, to hope, to nudge it along and try to figure it out with out selling out.  Maybe if I had a nicer suit, a rich father, a better sense of humor.  Let’s be honest, none of that stuff matters.  I am going to blog anyway.  I am going to keep chipping away.  Maybe one of you out there will do the same.  Chase your dreams; I will keep typing either way.

The power to set you free:

Knowledge is power and the truth will set you free.  If you don’t believe this, stop reading this post and get on with your life.  I will post something else in a couple of days.  If you do believe this, what are you waiting for???  No seriously, what are you waiting for???  What do I mean? Keep reading and I will try to explain.  Knowledge of the truth has the power to set you free.  Don’t you want to be free?

I have heard it said that “Knowledge is Power.”  I have also heard it said the “Ignorance is Bliss.”  This means people have a choice to make; the choice between knowledge and ignorance.  Which one do you want?  Do you want hunger for knowledge, or would you rather choose to believe that what you don’t know won’t hurt you.  I choose knowledge.  If you believe that “Ignorance is Bliss,” then I am giving you a second chance to stop reading this post.  The knowledge of the truth has the power to set you free.

If you are still reading this, then I hope it means you hunger for knowledge.  You see, knowledge is a constant pursuit of the best information available.  How many times have you said, “If I only knew then what I know now?”  Usually it applies when things go wrong.  Imagine if you had the power to make only the best choices.  Are you saying you would not be a happy person?  If you could go back 10 years and do things differently, would you.  Having the best possible information to make the best possible choices, means you will have to get past a lot of bad information.  You can always throw up your hands; say this is too much work, and that you just want to be happy.  I will give you yet another chance to stop reading this post.

Knowledge is power, but power has to be harnessed and applied for it to work.  Why do we turn off our automobile engines when we are not driving the car?  To save gas.  Why run the motor if you are not going to drive the car?  You have to harness the power of knowledge for it to have any effect in your life.  Again, I say again.  Knowledge of the truth has the power to set you free.  If you do not harness the power of knowledge, than nothing will change in your life.

Now if you are still with me, and you believe that knowledge is power than I would pray that you would apply your “Knowledge” in a quest for the “Truth.”  Why would you add your power to keep a lie going?  Lies will not set you free.  You do not have to believe me.  I have asked you a couple of times if you wanted to stop reading this post.  I will ask you again, if you don’t believe that knowledge of the truth has the power to set you free; stop reading this post.

Who wants to be lied to, cheated, or swindled?  Then why would you do it to someone else?  Spreading lies is cheating people of the truth.  Covering up the truth is swindling people out of their future.  This is my belief.  Feel free to prove me wrong, but I think you will be lying to yourself.  The knowledge of the truth has the power to set you free, but you have to harness that power!

We can go round and round about what “The Truth” is to each of us.  That is not the point of this post, and that is not the point of this blog.  The point of this blog is to get you to find out the truth for yourself.  The point I am trying to make with this post is, make a choice today.  Knowledge is power and the truth can set you free, but both of them are useless if you will not make a stand for the truth and harness the power of the knowledge.  Make a choice, make a stand and make a difference.  The knowledge of the truth can set you free, but it means you have to stop believing lies and stop just going with the flow.  See it for what it is… going with the flow is bondage.  I hope and pray you can find out the truth for yourself.

Since when does being in the Top Five Percent make you a scrub?

Welcome to the world of Professional Athletes.  No I am not a Pro-Athlete, but I have done what a lot of fans have done.  We look at the player who is having a bad day, week, month or even season and we call them a scrub.  How does this make sense?  These are people who have trained most of their lives and are some of the best in the world at what they do.  We have the luxury to sit back and throw stones at them.

How does this happen?  We look at the Superstar Athlete who talks a big game.  They are arrogant, and they say they are going to win; and we love them, and we love to hate them.  The minute our favorite team falls short, or the team we hate wins; we have to find someone to blame.  We look to that person who did not deliver and we call them a scrub.  The guys who are on the bench, the guys on the practice squads who don’t get to play; they are still better than 95% of the rest of us on any given day.  Yet we say how they are scrubs also.  This is a win at all cost attitude that fans of the game buy into when we shouldn’t.  We love cheering for winners more than celebrating the efforts of everyone who is out their competing.  Who remembers who comes in last in a race at the Olympics?  They may be the very best in their home country, and they are still one of the top athletes in the world.  Yet most of us will never remember their names.

Win at all cost means that winners are above the rules.  The rules get bent or broken for the winners.  This attitude slowly creeps from the Professional Levels, to the College and even High School levels.  Win that Championship, be the best of the best at your level and get elevated to the next level.  How many movies have been made where the big time athlete gets all the rules rewritten for them?  Now, how many people saw it when they were in High School or College?  We buy in to it when we root for our favorite teams.  We spend hundreds of dollars on tickets, jerseys and over priced refreshments, when we could be spending the same amount of money to coach kids on fair play.

How come when some of these athletes run into trouble we act surprised?  The rules have been bent for them time and time again, as long as they are winners.  We should be encouraging those athletes that do not make it big to come back and help the next generation, instead we call them bums.  I used to do it, and then I thought about it for a while.  All the athletes that go off to college and do not make the professional ranks should help out with youth camps and sports leagues for the amateurs and weekend warriors.  As fans we should be more encouraging to the people who are not the top stars, and they should give back to the community that supported them before their star faded.

It’s a new way of looking at an old situation.  We need to stop looking at anyone who as less than a superstar or a champion as a scrub.  We need to stop bending the rules for them, and create a new system where there is a soft landing for them instead of a crash and burn.  We need to take the attitude we are all in this together or it will continue to get worse.  We need to stop building people up on one side just to tear them down on the other side.  What kind of message are we sending to the next generation?  We will love you if you win and turn on you if you lose?  Why not, do your best and we will love you either way?  How about never making athletes larger than life but a part of life?  How about making sure life after the big time is still worth looking forward too?

If you do not believe in what you are doing:

How are you going to convince someone else to believe in what you are doing?  Yes here we go again.  That circular question that is asked some many times here are 60 Seconds of Motivational Mojo.  If you do not believe in what you are doing; how are you going to convince someone else to believe in what you are doing?  I have a quick question for you.  Are you working your dream job?  Are you living the dream?  Are you chasing your dreams?  If the answer is “No” then really, what advice can you give to someone else?

Most of us are not living our dream life; most of us are chasing a false reality we see on Television and in the Movies.  Most of us are not happy with our job, but we don’t try to do something in our spare time that will free us from our job.  And if you were doing something that would free you from a job you don’t like, wouldn’t you go at it like gangbusters, like Ghostbusters, like any other busters?  Listen, maybe I am failing in my attempt to be funny, but most people do not like what they are doing; yet our advice to almost everyone is to go to school, get a job and work hard.  Our advice should be; learn the truth, chase your dreams and work smart.

I am convinced, that is why every other day of so you see a new post in this blog.  Sometimes I can write 3 or 4 in one day, but I wait to post them – one here, one there every other day.  Why?  I am convinced that over time I can make a difference in this crazy world.  Are you convinced about what you are doing?  If you do not believe in what you are doing, how are you going to convince someone else to believe in what you are doing?  If people were convinced about what they were doing the world would be a happier place!  How many people do you know that are really happy?  Tell the truth!

Why is the world not a happy place?  Every day you here about records being broken and people getting rich, then why do we live in such a tragic world?  The world is full of good news and bad news every day, yet people choose to spread the bad news.  Can’t anyone have some good news?  Can’t people have a stretch goal, a big dream or crazy harmless fun?  Why are so many people freaking out and losing their minds?  I think because people are not convinced that what they are doing is going to change anything.  I think most people just go with the flow until they can’t take it anymore.

Believe in what you are doing, or try to spend 15 minutes a day looking for something you can believe in.  Find out the facts and ask questions until you find out the truth.  Be convinced!  Be convinced that you can have a big dream.  Be convinced that you can make a difference.  Be convinced that you can be happy.  Then go out there and reach for the stars!

My Chilled Out Wired In Lounge Music Mix.

Otherwise known as My Wired in Music Part Two:  Where to begin?  I have Five Ultra Cool CDs that I made a personal Music Mix From.  These are Chilled Out Wired In Tunes that keep me moving, working and focused; even though a lot of people wonder how I can be productive while listening to these tunes.  Some people get it, some people don’t; on to the mix.

CD Number One: Billie HolidayRemixed & Reimagined – Billie Holiday has Nine Grammys Awarded for Historical Impact on Music.  Do I need to say more?  Take one of the most Seminal Jazz Artists of All-Time and have Top Electronic Producers make nice and chilled out lounge mixes.  How cool is that?

CD Number Two:  Nina Simone Remixed & Reimagined – Nina studied at Julliard, was involved in the Civil Rights Movement, and recorded what I think is the Greatest Version of the Song – The Look Of Love:  Yeah, Chill her music out with a great Lounge Mix CD.

CD Number Three:  Shirley Bassey –  The Remix Album – Diamonds Are Forever.  It is pretty cool to get to record a James Bond Theme Song.  Shirley Bassey is so cool, she is the only artist to have more than one, she has three.  How cool is that? Remix a bunch of Diamonds!

CD Number Four: Tom JonesGreatest Hits.  Tom Jones is so cool, he makes cool tracks and then takes other people’s cool tracks and remakes them with other cool people.  If that isn’t cool, I don’t know what cool is…

CD Number Five:  SealBest Remixes.  It is cool to have a Greatest Hits Album.  It is Cool to have a Remix Album.  So how cool is it to have a Greatest Remix Album?

So I took my favorites from each of these and did a “Round Robin Music Mix.”  Now I have to get back to work.

The world is not fair, deal with it!

Here at 60 Seconds of Motivational Mojo, I am just trying to find a positive take away from everyday.  It is easier said than done sometimes.  It is easy to say “Stay Positive!” but to stay positive when everything seems to be going wrong.  Easy said, not so easy done.  Why?  Because the world is not fair.  The world is not fair today, it never was fair, and it won’t be fair tomorrow.  So we just have to deal with it, and move on!

The world is not fair, deal with it!  If the world was fair, the hardest working people would have the most.  That is not always the case.  The hardest working person I know is probably my own mother, (gee how many sons say that?)  She has worked hard her whole life and is not the richest person I have met.  My mom has a strong will and has always put her family first, so shouldn’t she have a reward here on earth?  Sure she should but the world is not fair.  Everyone knows someone who works hard, but was not born into wealth and power; or just wasn’t lucky.  You see the world does not play fair, sometimes the takers win; and sometimes bad things happen to good people.  We just have to deal with it a move on.

The world is not fair.  If it were the people who love the most unconditional would be protected from the wolves of this world.  How many times have you heard of someone being too nice to people?  Usually you only hear that when people are telling a story of a person being taken advantage of by “So called friends” who scammed them.  If the world were fair, you could never be too nice to someone; and shame on anyone who does not look out for people who are nice.  We should try to protect the people who are nice, but we don’t because the world is not fair.  See we have not dealt with the fact that the world is not fair; we perpetuate it.

Let’s face it some people are good and some people are evil.  It does not matter if you think we live in a good world with evil people; or if you think we live in an evil world with good people.  Good people have to stand up for what they believe in.  Ever heard the quote “Evil Wins when Good People Do Nothing” – Thank you Edmund Burke.  You have not dealt with the fact that the world is not fair until you are willing to do something about it.  You can’t deal with it if you are in denial of it.  The world is not fair, deal with it.

Listen, Birds of a feather flock together.  So if you do not get around people who will stand up for what is right, you will go with the flow amongst people who will not stand up for what is right.  There is strength in numbers; always has been and there always will be strength in numbers.  We have to make the world a better place.  One person can’t do it alone, and it won’t happen by accident.  The world is not fair, deal with it.

Again, you can’t deal with it if you will not stand up for what is right.  Stop saying “Someone needs to blah, blah, blah” and start saying, “I am going to do (fill in the blank.)”  Stand up for what is right!  Then get around people who will do the same.  The world may have done you wrong, do you think the world is going to stop turning and pay you back?  The world is not fair, deal with it.  If you don’t deal with it, who is going to do it for you?

Birds of a feather flock together.

We have all heard that before, haven’t we?  So, why do birds flock together, and why do people flock together?  Do we just say birds of a feather flock together because it rhymes and we have heard it before?  Do we study the simple things we have said our whole lives?

Birds of a Feather flock together for various reasons.  One reason is they eat the same food, so in nature you will find the most birds of a feather around their food source.  So, I guess as people we flock to our favorite food sources, don’t we?  A lot of human’s food choices are based on where they work, and how much money they have to spend.  That being said we all like to figure out where we are going to eat, before we pile in our cars and take off for lunch or dinner.  So I guess one oblivious reason is that birds and people flock together to find food.  As humans, working at the same job or having the same hobbies also tends to create a flock.

This first reason naturally leads us into a second reason.  Birds of a feather flock together because they are all going to the same place at the same time.  We as people do it, so I guess it would make sense that birds do it also.  When a bunch of people have a common destination, we sometimes car pool, take a bus or a shuttle, or we hop on a plane.  We create a flock, no matter how temporary for the purpose of travelling together.  Now birds migrate in the fall and spring, so these flocks have common destinations.  So I think it is a smart move as human beings that we should check our flock, and make sure our flock is heading to our desired destination.  You would not get on a plane headed to New York, if you are trying to get to California would you?

Flocks are also formed to find common shelter.  Bats like to hang upside down in darkness, so that is why a big cave can be full of bats.  Common types of shelter, we do it as humans.  People from all different backgrounds will pick the same neighborhoods because they like the houses, the parks, the schools, and the shopping malls.  People will flock together because we all want the similar types of shelter.  Again, I ask you the question, does the flock you belong to have the same goals in mind that you have for yourself?  Do you hang around people just because they live close to you?  It is great to be nice to your neighbors, but is this the place you want to be for the rest of your life?

Flocks are also formed because there is strength in numbers, and the members of the flock will protect each other.  Birds look out for each other but can we as humans say the same thing?  I hope we can.  I ask you.  Do the people in your flock look out for each other, or do they gossip behind each others back?  Does your flock protect one another, or do they turn a blind eye to danger as long as they are safe from harm?  What kind of flock are you in???  Yes the question must be asked, “Who are you flocking with???”  If you say it out loud you might smile.

Now here at 60 seconds of Motivational Mojo, I keep trying to find a way to be positive, so I ask you.  Take a look at yourself and take a look a who you hang around (who you flock with) and see if your goals are lined up.  Do you work at the same place or have the same interests, go to the same school, do you like the same foods, do you have the same destinations and goals in mind, do you live in the same neighborhoods, and do you look out for each other?  Ask yourself, “Why am I in this flock?”  You do have a choice in “Who are you flocking with!!!”  Do you just go with the flow or is the flock heading in the direction you want to be headed?  Again, why would I get on a Plane to New York, if I want to go to California?  Just to be a part of a flock, just to go along with the ride?  Then why do people tend to “Flock” in groups of people who are not headed where they want to go?  Everyone has to ask this to themselves.  “Who am I flocking with!?!”

No I don’t just want to be funny.  Yes, I want to be funny, but I don’t just want to be funny.  I want to make a point and be funny.  Are you hanging around people just to say you belong to a group or do you have similar goals and dreams and talents?  Before you jump from one flock to another, check the list and make sure you know “Why” you are in the flock you choose.  Below is the “My flock checklist.”

Answer Yes/No

1:  We all have the same job or go to the same school, or belong to the same organization.

2:  We all have the same goals and destination.

3:  We all live in the same neighborhood.

4:  We all look out for each other.

Answering “Yes” to questions 2 and 4 are the right reasons to be in a flock.  Answering “Yes” to questions 1 and 3 are OK reasons to be in a flock but is that enough for you?  Answering “No” to questions 2 and 4 are definitely reasons to find a new flock.

Now you may want to stay in the flock you are in for what ever reason.  If the flock you are in does not have common goals, and will not protect each other; than you need to challenge yourself to stand up, speak up and become an agent of change for the better.  You may have to challenge the leadership of the flock or become a leader in your own right.  Yes your flock may lose some members, but you will attract new members to your flock.  You may attract new members with common goals and direction that will look out for each other and move the flock forward.  If your flock will not change, then you may have to join a new flock to safely get to your destination.
