Four years of blogging?

Four years of blogging?

Four years of spreading good news and trying to give quality advice, the kind of advice that I will follow. Four years of trying to build, from the ground up a motivational network of people who will encourage each other. Four years.

And what has it got me? A book deal: No, not yet. Any television n time: No, not yet. A movie deal with options on a sequel: No, not yet. So why do we do this again. Why do I do this again, blog in hopes of finding an audience?

I do this because I believe in seed time and harvest. My harvest may not have come in yet, but I plant seeds of good news and I water by trying and trying again, and encouraging others to try. I get peace of mind in knowing that I am trying to make things better by spreading good news instead of gossip. And I get to learn because I learn by doing, studying and mentoring others who are just getting started. I get to learn by talking to other people who are also blogging or speaking or networking and trying to help others. I learn because it is not enough for me to just blog, I want to make a difference by volunteering hands on so I go and help out when I can.   I want to make a difference so I invite others to join me when I can.

I could tell you that it is raining outside and my car won’t start; but I choose to tell you that no matter what you are going through to hold on, the sun will rise tomorrow.   I choose good news over bad. I choose the lesson over the pity party. I choose to want to make a difference instead of placing blame. I choose to keep blogging.

Four years of blogging and each year I reach more people. If only one person a day finds something I blog worthwhile, then maybe I can reach 365 people a year. If in 4 years 1000 people have found something worthwhile to hold onto from my quest to spread good news, then it is worth it.

No book deal, yet. No television interviews, yet. No movie options, yet. But in 2016 I hope to get out and speak more, I hope I can help produce some motivational and professional networking workshops. I also hope to help find 100 jobs for 100 people. I also hope I can volunteer once a month and invite others to join me. Four years of blogging and it has been worth it.

Thank you for tuning in. See you on the other side.

A few years ago I thought it would be a good ideal to start a Motivational Blog.

A few years ago I thought it would be a good ideal to start a Motivational Blog.

So I started blogging and I am still at it. I still think it is a good idea. I also thought it was a good idea to start a “Quote of the Day” Motivational Group. So I did. There have been some ups and some downs, but I still think it is a good idea. So I am still at it.

A few years ago I thought it would be a good idea to become a Motivational Speaker. So I started by blogging and inviting my friends and professional contacts to be a part of my Spread Good News “Quote of the Day” Motivational Group and I took every chance I could get to present on the topics that I have been studying and learning along the way. Am I rich and famous? No, not yet; but I still think it is a good idea. Do I have a book deal? No, not yet; but I still think it is a good idea. Have I helped a few people along the way? I have helped as many people as I could with no strings attached; and that is why I think it is a good idea.

No, I have not authored a book yet. No, I have not been on television or the radio yet. I have been invited / allowed to speak a few times on a podcast and at a couple of local events. Even though I have spoken before many crowds as a Master of Ceremonies and Event Host and even though I have performed onstage as a Musician and as a DJ; learning how to present as a Motivational Speaker or a Topic Expert still makes me a little nervous on the inside. But, I have learned by doing and I have learned by studying and I have learned by asking questions and listening for an answer.

Doors were opened for me because I knocked on them. Every time I walked through a door that was opened, I learned something new. Then I shared what I have learned and started the process all over again. Can I help someone learn what I have learned? Can someone help me learn what they have learned? I am convinced I will write a book one day, just not today. Today I rededicate myself to what I am doing and have done so far: Blogging, Speaking, Volunteering, Learning, Listening, Being Mentored, Being Coached, Mentoring and Coaching Others.

One day, when the time is right, I hope to write a book. Until then I will update my blog. One day, when the time is right, I will be interviewed on Television for what I have accomplished, until then I will continue to work to motivate others and give presentations about what I have learned. One day you may hear me speak on the radio, until then maybe you will catch me on You-Tube or another podcast. If I continue to learn and grow and help others, then the seeds I so today will grow into a harvest, until then I will continue to tend to the soil.

A few years ago I thought it would be a good ideal to start a Motivational Blog. I still think it is a good idea. A few years ago I thought it would be a good ideal to start a “Quote of the Day” group. I still think it is a good idea. A few years ago I thought it would be a good idea to become a Motivational Speaker. I still think it is a good idea. That is why I am still here. I am still at it. I am learning and growing by doing and asking others how I can help. If you have the same dreams I tell you today to get started. Take it one day, one post and one presentation at time. A few years from now you will be glad you did.

What are you doing next New Year’s Eve?

Happy New Year! Happy 2015, or 2016 or whenever you will read this post, I say Happy New Year. I sit here on the Eve of another Year, not reflecting but looking forward. Not look forward to next year, but where will I be the year after that? I used to not look forward. I used to just live in the now. Now I ask not what are you doing New Year’s Eve, but I ask “What are you doing next New Year’s Eve?”

Every year that I have asked this to myself, I have never got it right. I have not been one of those people who can plan out my steps and then live those steps. Life happens; life gets in my way and changes things in ways that I could never predict. But still I hope that I am tending toward the things that matter most to me. I hope to keep learning and keep having faith and keep trying to give back and make a difference. I would like to be a part of something that will live on after I am gone. A system that will live and on and help others help each other.

So I ask not what are you doing New Year’s Eve? In this case for me it would be like asking what are you doing tonight? I ask “What are you doing next New Year’s Eve?” What are you building this year that will pay off next year? What are you doing to build something that is sustainable and bigger than yourself and will help others? Those are the questions I ask myself, so those are the questions I will ask you or ask in general.  I don’t think you are reading this post by accident. I think you were meant to read this post.

This Christmas I did my best to give to others and help others. I was able to mop the floor at a homeless shelter and give out little bags of treats my wife put together. I was able to play guitar and sing songs of hope with two of my friends. This Christmas I was able to do little things that mean a lot to me if it means nothing else to anyone else. I know that I tried. That is enough for me. It is enough, but it is no enough. I want to do more. I want to show others that if we work together we can accomplish more than we can do alone, and we can accomplish more than we have ever dreamed. It has been easy to find people who agree, it has been hard to find people who will do the work.

So I will keep trying. I will keep blogging. I will keep inviting others to join me when I volunteer. I will continue to ask others if they want to be a part of something bigger and better than the life we are living now. I hope to build a system that will help make a difference; one person at a time. Giving back and serving the community first. Working as a team and developing leaders based on sweat equity. Doing more with less and thinking of others before ourselves. Not what are you doing New Year’s Eve, but What are you doing next New Year’s Eve!

Happy Renew Year!

Yes, I know you are thinking do I mean Happy New Year?  Yes and No, but No; I mean Happy Renew Year.  Welcome to 60 Seconds of Motivational Mojo.  I have a slightly different take on things.  So today and every day of 2014 make it your Renew Year!

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day bring resolutions where we make promises to ourselves to change.  Well with Renew Year you have a chance to renew yourself.  You can make up your own mind what you want to work on and then work on it.  If you slip and fall, get back up and start over.  Renew Year.  It is not a one shot deal, stay at it until you break through and reach your goals!

Happy Renew Year.  Recharge, Refresh, Reboot, Restart, Renew!  What ever it takes, take a minute and think it over.  If you need to take a weekend to recharge, then do it.  If you need to refresh your perspective, then do it.  If you need a day to reboot your thinking, then do it.  If you need to restart to reach your goals, then do it!  Renew yourself this year.

Feel good about your efforts!  Feel good about your goals!  Fell good about yourself as long as you are trying.  And if you fail, get back up and try again.  Feel good about yourself as long as you are willing to try!

Happy Renew Year.  Take a minute and give yourself one thing you always wanted to do and work toward doing it.  Do it this year.  Take steps this year.  Make a choice this year.  Do something different this year.  One day at a time, one step at a time, one thing at a time; do it this year.

Happy Renew Year!

Two Years of Blogging.

Two years of Blogging.  It goes quick, and it goes slowly.  Two years of 60 Seconds of Motivational Mojo.  So many words typed and so many typos.  Thank you for sticking with me.  If it made sense to you then I did something right.  If it did not make sense, back to the drawing board.  No not really.  If it did not make sense to you, maybe it wasn’t supposed to make sense to you.

This blog, 60 Seconds of Motivational Mojo was never meant to be perfect and it never will be perfect.  It is not written to a formula.  I do not have proof readers and editors.  Maybe it is just meant to be what it is… it is my stream of consciousness and my observation on this life we are passing through.  I am learning by doing and I hope you will do the same.  If I had all the answers I would be a best-selling author by now.  I am looking for answers and sharing my thoughts along the way.

I am convinced that each of us have a gift.  I believe each of us have a talent that we did not earn, it was given to us.  We can argue over where the gift came from, I say if came from God.   I think the best way to honor you gift is to practice your talent, get around people with whom you can find common ground and let your talent show.  Let your light shine.  Put yourself on display in a positive way, where you are hurting no one and helping those around you.

So I blog, and I work and I try to learn and mentor and coach others.  I try to have a positive impact when doing the things I love.  It seems I drive the people I love crazy, but it is because I am convinced even when those around me are not.  Give it a try, spread good news and tell people to chase the big dream.  Some people will call you crazy.  Some will call you a dreamer (which is a compliment.)  Others may talk behind your back (ask yourself if you really want friends like that?)  Some people will actually be happy for you, and some may actually help you live your dream (those are your real friends.)

Who am I anyway, I am just some guy on the internet trying to spread good news.  Pretty much a few times a week for the last two years I have posted on this blog.  It went fast, but it was also a grind.  Sometimes I would get ten posts ahead, other times like lately I have struggled to post once a week.  Time flies when you are having fun and life will get in your way.  You may not get paid a dime to chase your dreams; will you let all those things stop you or will you learn by doing?

Two years of blogging and I am still at it.  I haven’t been paid a dime to chase my dreams, but I will still chase them.  And I will ask you to chase your dreams.  It is what I do.  Hopefully that if anything has gotten through, that has gotten through.  Maybe that is all I was ever supposed to do, all typos aside.  If you can’t get past a typo here and there you are really missing the point.
